A Good Week!

Wowee!

On Monday I auditioned for a part in "The Importance of Being Ernest". I won't lie, I nearly didn't go to the audition, I was that nervous!
When I got there, the person I was going to meet hadn't arrived yet.  I was on my own in a room full of strangers who all knew each other very well.
This is the part where I could have bolted back out of the Darwen Catholic Club and back into the car.
I didn't.
I introduced myself. Rather loudly and a lot.
Then we all gathered in the other part of the bar to talk and read through the audition parts. I had to tie my ankles in knots to stop the shaking in my legs and I decided to read through the audition script with my hands palms down on the table, so no one could see the shakes!
I sat back when they called "Who wants to go next?"
Then my friend, David arrived and there were no more excuses!

We read from the drawing room scene, in the first act.  I was Lady Bracknell and David was Algernon.
As soon as I started to audition, the shaking stopped. I stumbled a bit (SHIT). I carried on (Perhaps they didn't notice).

We finished, they thanked us, we thanked them and we went to have a well deserved sit down to see if we got call backs.

We got call backs!

This time we read from Cecily and Algernon's proposal scene.
I was more confident and, having just watched Rupert Everett and Colin Firth version on DVD that afternoon.  I understood how simply Cecily's part had to be read.

We finished there was some more thanks, the man who played Algy with me said that was Ace and we waited for them to cast us.
I think at this point I wanted to do something dramatic like faint or vomit. Hey! I haven't been to an audition in 10 years! Plus a few more years!

Everyone was really nice and we sat drinking and talking and generally having a good time. I forgot why I was there.  Then we got called back. I suddenly remembered why I was there.

One by one people got cast.  I saw myself as a Gwendolyn. I got cast as Cecily. Cecily is 18 in the play. Which is way cool! Because I got I.D'd the other day, buying wine. Proof that I am still young.

It is obviously being back with people who love me that makes me look younger!
So, yay for love in all it's forms!

Today I have been dreading having to go and sign on again for Job Seekers Allowance, this Friday.  I hate all that proving that I am actively looking for work crap. Of course I am!  Not doing anything constructive makes me stir-crazy!
I got a call from a familiar voice! My boss from the last time I lived here in Darwen was calling in response to my application for the role of their marketing assistant vacancy!
Fingers Crossed!!!
As a sign from heaven, my sister sent me a lovely suit of hers which I just received in the post today!

Life is good, this week in particular is Wonderful!
