A beautiful place called Downham in Lancashire. In the TV series they called it Ormston. It is a CHarming show with a capital "CH". Set in post Second World War Lancashire, the place has no aerials and no signs within the village, which makes it a popular place for English filming crews.
The pub there is a little pricey but the food is seasonal and there is a lot of variety. Absolutely everyone is friendly and there appear to be hundreds of ducks! The ducks were brought in for shooting parties but the locals were so enamoured with them that the parties were stopped.
I expect the ducks are happy about this!
